The Blue Grotto

Croatia

Yachting in Croatia and to any one of its inhabited Islands offers its own unique experience. Located in the Adriatic Sea, Croatia claims just over a thousand islands and islets varying in size, 48 of which are permanently inhabited. There is abundant sunshine during the charter season with the sunniest parts of the country being the outer islands, for example Hvar and Korčula record more than 2700 hours of sunshine each year. Starting a Luxury Motor Yacht or a Catamaran charter in Dubrovnik or Split is ideal being that both cities are serviced by international airports. This enables charter groups to start and end in either city and still visit many of the Croatian islands. Dubrovnik is a gorgeous city which was a filming location for the HBO show “Game of Thrones” for a scene used to depict the King’s Landing. The city of Split boasts a UNESCO World Heritage Site the Palace of Diocletian and its worth visiting while on your yacht charter.

The Greek Islands might be more famous, but Croatia’s Adriatic islands are just as (if not more) beautiful. Croatia is considered a top sailing destination in the Mediterranean. You can experience Islands from Pag to Hvar with everything from lively nightlife-partying to quite family-friendly places. Many of the islands have a romantic vibe and the islands are considered home to some of the most beautiful sunsets.

The island of Korčula should not be missed while on charter. Korčula’s old town is stunning! This small city is well-known for its Medieval towers and fortifying walls next to its harbor. The central square features the Cathedral of St. Mark, built in the 14th century, if you are feeling intrepid climb the steps and visit the Bell’s tower, the views from the tower are unparalleled. Also don’t forget to visit the home of the great explorer, Marco Polo.  Nearby you can enjoy a wine tasting session at the Bire Winery, a 200-year-old family business in Lumbarda, around sunset. Their Grk wine is delicious!

The city of Hvar is famous for its cultural heritage. When visiting HVAR take a stroll through the biggest main square in Dalmatia with an area of 48,000 SQFT (4500m2), with many renaissance and baroque palaces which dominate the city that is surrounded by fortification walls dating from the 7th century. If you visit for the evening from your yacht, HVAR has a summer night life with a special flair and there is always something going on. Parties last all night long, and guests can visit numerous events, restaurants, taverns, pubs & clubs.

There are many islands where you can experience serenity such as the Island of VIS where you can visit the Blue Grotto or Blue Cave and some of the most beautiful serene coves and harbors.  Croatia is a unique and unforgettable charter destination.
