Crew Profile
Captain Derek Watkins
Born and raised in Reading, Massachusetts, just outside Boston, my early years were filled with outdoor adventures and sports. Summers were spent at a family campground near the White Mountains in New Hampshire, but my passion for sports dominated my life as I grew. After graduating from Reading Memorial High School, I pursued this passion at East Stroudsburg University in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, where I played college football.
A few years later, I found myself in Wells, Maine, ready for a change. Inspired by my grandfather, I became a bartender, a choice that fueled my love for travel and adventure for the next 25 years. Alongside bartending, I picked up diverse skills and experiences, working as a carpenter, ski and snowboard technician, Alaskan fisherman, paint salesman, tour manager, and even running my own muscular therapy business. My journey took me to vibrant cities and scenic locales like Boston, LA, Alaska, Aspen, Squaw Valley, NYC, and St. John in the US Virgin Islands.
Despite my varied career, my love for the outdoors never waned. I embraced activities like backpacking, snowboarding, mountain biking, and traveling, exploring destinations like India, Nepal, Central America, and across the USA.
I’m currently in my seventh year as a Captain, and I hold a USCG 100-Ton Masters License with Sailing Endorsements, CPR and First Aid certificates, PADI Advance Diver, and an STCW-95 qualification.
Here’s my favorite inspirational quote. It’s from J.R.R. Tolkien’s 'The Fellowship of the Ring':
“All we have to decide is what to do with the time given us.”
These words remind me to seize every moment. I’m here to help you create unforgettable memories and seize your moment on your dream trip. Your adventure awaits, and I’m thrilled to welcome you aboard!
Chef Ursula Schultz
Schultz's love for food started during her childhood on her family's farm in rural Quebec. Her parents taught her the art of farm-to-table cooking, and she learned valuable culinary skills like cheese-making, butter-churning, and gardening. These early experiences laid the foundation for her culinary journey.
Driven by her passion to further her culinary knowledge and skills, Schultz decided to pursue formal education at Le Cordon Bleu in Ottawa, Canada. This educational experience opened doors for her to work as a private yacht chef in the Caribbean, where she catered to discerning clients and celebrities with sophisticated palates. Alongside her yacht chef career, Schultz also successfully manages her own catering business in Canada, which continues to thrive as she travels the world.
In addition to her culinary expertise, Schultz is also an accomplished violinist, recognized internationally for her exceptional talent. She has had the privilege of sharing the stage with renowned artists such as Pink, Zac Brown Band, and Lindsey Stirling. Schultz has also performed for esteemed individuals including the Royal Family, Canadian Prime Ministers, and Richard Branson, among others. For an unforgettable experience, she offers charters with the option to include a mesmerizing musical performance.
