Getting to the British Virgin Islands

Beef Island airport, BVI (EIS)

Traveling to the BVI is simple for international guests. Most guests fly into Terrance B. Lettsome Airport (EIS) on Beef Island near Tortola.

Skip the St. Thomas connection by booking a flight directly to Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS) on Beef Island, next to Trellis Bay on Tortola’s east end.

  • Connecting Gateways: Most travelers reach EIS via one-stop connections through major Caribbean and U.S. hubs such as Miami, San Juan (Puerto Rico), St. Maarten, Antigua, or St. Kitts.
  • Airlines Serving EIS: Carriers with scheduled service include, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, LIAT, Seaborne Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, and United Airlines.
  • Typical Fares: Round-trip pricing varies widely depending on season, departure city, and how early you book expect roughly $250 to $700 or more, with higher rates during peak holidays.
  • Easy Arrival: From the terminal it’s only a five-minute walk or a two-minute taxi ride to the Trellis Bay docks, where many yacht charters and water transfers begin.

Flying directly into EIS eliminates the need for ferries or private water taxis and can save several hours of travel time compared to a St. Thomas, USVI arrival.

Ferry fees and private water taxi rates vary depending on your route, destination, and time of year. Regular ferries are the most economical option, offering scheduled service between islands like St. Thomas and Tortola. Private water taxis provide a faster, more flexible, and personalized transfer directly to your yacht—ideal for groups or those arriving on late flights. These services can include customs clearance assistance and direct dock-to-dock transfers for added convenience. [Click here for ferry and private water taxi information.]
